"Hungarian (Budapest-Based) Artist, going by the nickname 'Cerkahegyzo' , carves amazingly detailed miniature sculptures with mountains of patience from a single pencil. He transforms common pencils into seemingly digitally-altered works of art.To create such meticulous miniatures, the artist uses needles, sandpaper, razor blades, polishing stones, files and a variety of pencils. Taking inspiration from established miniature sculptors like Dalton Ghetti, Mizuta Tasogare and Kato Jado, the Hungarian master creates incredible patterns, pays homage to Ghetti by replicating his sculptures of a heart, screw, and linked chains. Additionally, Cerkahegyzo adds a playful touch, using tiny props to enliven images of his carvings . A needle and spool made out of the dark core of a pencil is cleverly adorned with bright, orange thread and a seemingly slithering snake is given some ambience with an accompanying sprout.
Working as a professional tool-maker in Hungary, Cerkahegyzo says that sculpting pencil miniatures is a great way to relax and has become his free time hobby. Clearly the concentration that such work requires leaves you unable to think about anything else rather than how to get that minuscule curve right!"
